HTC Legend vs HTC Desire

HTC Desire

The HTC Desire

HTC have set the mobile phone World alight with their latest Legend and Desire mobile phones. Both phones are using the great Google Android OS, have fast processors and the great HTC Sense interface. These powerful Android smartphones have very similar specifications, with the same processor, OS, 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA web browsing and GPS. However there are some differences so read below for our comparison:

HTC Legend

The HTC legend is stunning in the flesh as it is formed from a single piece of aluminium giving it a real premium look. The 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen with a large resolution of 320×480 pixels makes images look amazing. Also with the slick Friend Stream feature all your social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Flikr) are brought together in one place with updates and posted images showing on the homepage as a widget. The 5 megapixel camera has autofocus, LED flash and widescreen photo capture with photos obviously being able to be uploaded straight to Facebook and Flickr. The Legend also has GPS with Google Maps and a digital compass.

Also packing a G-Sensor the Legend phone does some nice things like lowering the ring volume when it is picked up and mutes the ringer when the phone is put face down. Other features to note are FM radio, video player and a great MP3 player, quad-band for international roaming and bluetooth. Lastly the HTC Legend weighs 126g and measures a compact 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm.

HTC Desire

The HTC Desire offers all the same great features of the Legend but with a bit more power and a larger  3.7 inch screen that is the ebst we have used on a mobile – yes better than the iPhone! The in built, optimised web browser offers seamless content loading and the text reflow feature allows you to zoom into text at a size you want for easier reading. Having a larger screen you can be forgiven for thinking that this phone might look and feel a bit too big but we can tell you it still has a great look and at only 12mm thick its very pocket friendly. The Desire is slightly little heavier at 135g and is slightly larger (119 x 60 x 11.9mm) to incorporate the bigger screen but hoenstly feels just right in your ahnd or pocket.

The winner?

If you are looking for high end specs and don’t mind the slightly larger proportions the Desire is the best phone for you. However if you want something that looks drop dead gorgeous but don’t want to compromise on functionality then the Legend’s perfect mix of beauty AND power is the way to go. Decide for yourself…
