Asus plans new flagship phone for 2016

Asus Zen Phone 2Asus is planning to up its smartphone game next year with the launch of the ZenFone 3, a high end device that will apparently be touching down in the summer, according to DigiTimes.

The ZenFone 3 will reportedly be equipped with an iPhone-like fingerprint scanner, with some observers suggesting that this is an indication of the fact that this technology is now becoming a mainstream essential.

The manufacturer has already revealed that there will also be a USB Type-C port to take care of charging and data synchronisation, meaning that the ZenFone 3 should be able to back up user data to a PC at much higher speeds than are achievable via older USB standards.

The design of the device is still being kept under wraps, but it is hoped that Asus will follow in the footsteps of Samsung and HTC by making the ZenFone 3 using a metal body, to give it that premium look and feel that so many users crave.

Even if it is a well specified Android phone, the next Asus flagship is likely to be a little more affordable than its contemporaries, giving it the competitive edge in at least one respect.
