Spanish mobile fans will be the first in Europe to be able to experience the bargain basement, high tech handsets offered by up and coming Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi. With some killer specs on its side, many will be hoping that this launch leads to an eventual entry into the UK market.
The Mi Mix 2 is priced at the equivalent of £440 and comes with a huge 5.99 inch screen, the powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm and a hefty 6B slab of RAM, according to Pocket Lint. This makes it sound a lot like a rival to the iPhone X, but one that costs less than half as much.
One of the reasons that Xiaomi is able to sell its smartphones so cheaply is that it avoids a lot of the marketing investment that companies like Apple have to harness in order to get the word out. Instead, it is letting its devices speak for themselves and relying on social networking to spread the message.
At the moment the UK introduction of the Mi Mix 2 has not been confirmed, but if sales in Spain are up to scratch then its wider rollout will be assured.
