Samsung Galaxy A8 gets spec boost

Samsung Galaxy A8Samsung is set to endow the Galaxy A8 with a few new features ahead of a broader global release, according to sources cited by SamMobile.

Although the Galaxy A8 was initially thought to only be destined for release in China, it has since transpired that Samsung is now intending to bring it to many more nations around the world, meaning that a UK release may well be on the cards, eventually.

The A8 is not only going to be the thinnest handset ever built by this South Korean manufacturer, measuring only 5.9 millimetres thick, but will also now be equipped with a fingerprint scanner, allowing it to stack up alongside flagship handsets in terms of specifications.

The A8 will be no slouch in other departments, with a 5.7 inch 1080p display making it a full-on phablet handset. Meanwhile, an octa-core chipset from Qualcomm and 2GB of RAM will allow it to run Android 5.0 smoothly and make the most of Samsung’s bespoke user interface.

A selfie-friendly five megapixel camera on the front is joined by a 16 megapixel snapper on the rear, rounding off the Galaxy A8 as a well equipped, mid range model with a very stylish design.
