A trio of Android handsets due from Sony Ericsson

The Anzu?

Mobile manufacturer Sony Ericsson is set to launch three handsets based on the latest Android operating system in the first six months of next year.

The PSP Phone, which has been the subject of much speculation over the past couple of months, is now going to be joined in early 2011 by two more smartphones, called the Hallon and Anzu, according to TechRadar.

Significantly, it appears that the Anzu will be a revamped iteration of the Xperia X10, rather than a brand new handset altogether and is likely to arrive with a 12 megapixel camera to rival that of the Nokia N8.

Reports suggest that the Anzu will feature a 4.3 inch display which will be the equal of the HTC HD2. The Hallon will also be a reimaging of an older mobile, this time the Vivaz, with the Symbian operating system ditched in favour of Android 2.3.

Although Sony Ericsson has not confirmed any dates for mobile launches in 2011, it looks likely that January will see the Xperia range growing with new additions intended. The Mobile World Congress event in February will surely be the venue for these handsets’ full unveiling.
