BlackBerry 10 is here and customers in the UK are amongst the first to be able to experience it in person, since the BlackBerry Z10 is already on sale here.

At a number of synchronised launch events around the globe, BlackBerry chief exec, Thorsten Heins and his colleagues revealed the flagship Z10 handset alongside the more traditionally designed Q10.

The Z10 sports a 4.2 inch HD display, a dual core processor and an eight megapixel camera. The Q10 has a smaller 3.1 inch display, as well as the full QWERTY keypad that has been seen on many BlackBerry handsets in the past.

The BlackBerry 10 operating system has 70,000 apps available from launch and is expected to attract more big name developers over the coming weeks and months.

The interface is not entirely dissimilar to that of Android, in as much as you get multiple homescreens and a lack of a reliance on physical buttons.

However, the use of Active Frames on the main homescreen, which are basically little windows that contain widget-style apps for real time info updates, does make it stand out.

BB10 and the Z10 have definitely caught the attention of the media, but BlackBerry needs solid sales figures to prove that its comeback is complete.
