Although it is only a couple of months since the BlackBerry Z10 was unveiled, the manufacturer’s chief executive, Thorsten Heins, is already talking about the next big mobile project.
In an interview with CNET, he revealed that there is a brand new flagship BlackBerry on its way, which should be out before the end of the year.
While he was not willing to give out any detailed information, he did say that this device would improve the experience offered by the BB 10 operating system.
In the next few weeks, we will be seeing the new BlackBerry Q10 device arriving in the UK with a SIM-free price of around 530.
This is a more traditional alternative to the Z10, since it has a physical QWERTY keypad, but still uses the cutting edge BB 10 software.
The number of apps available for BB 10 was also in the news this week, since it surpassed the 100,000 mark.
This is an impressive statistic, particularly given that most reports suggest only a moderately successful launch for the new platform and devices.
If BlackBerry can cement itself in the market with a new flagship device later this year, then its long term future will look a little rosier.
