After rumours emerged last week charting the development of a 6.3 inch Samsung Galaxy Note 3, further murmurings suggest that a full tablet iteration with an eight inch display, will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in February.
Reports from SamMobile, suggest that it will pack Android 4.2, a five megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM and a sizable 4600mAh battery to boot.
The eight inch display size will put this new Galaxy Note right in the firing line of Apple’s iPad Mini, with its 7.9 inch screen making it a major target.
There is already a 10 inch Galaxy Note available, as well as the Galaxy Note 2, which is considered as a full smartphone, thanks to its 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display.
Whether or not this eight inch model will sport the eight core processor rumoured for the Galaxy Note 3 is unknown, although it seems likely that Samsung will be saving this technology for later in the year.
The Mobile World Congress, held towards the end of next month in Barcelona, will see a raft of new mobile phones revealed, so a new Galaxy Note will only be one of the attractions on offer.
