HTC could launch QHD smartphone

Image via recombu.comWith LG getting ready to launch the QHD capable G3 in a few weeks and Samsung also thought to be embracing this next generation of display technology, it is no surprise to hear rumours that HTC will also be jumping aboard the very same bandwagon.

Twitter tipster @evleaks has posted details about the supposed specifications of the One M8 Prime, the device which HTC is prepping to introduce a 5.5 inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution to the world.

As well as being significantly crisper and clearer than the 1080p panel on the current One M8 handset, it will also be half an inch bigger.

Inside the Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.5GHz quad core processor is anticipated, while connectivity will be faster than ever, thanks to the latest 4G LTE antenna tech, enabling downloads at up to 300Mbps in certain areas.

The One M8 Prime is likely to use Android KitKat in combination with a new version of HTC’s Sense interface, although until official details are released, all of these rumours will need to be taken with a pinch of salt. But with things going the way they are, a second wave of flagship smartphones seems destined to arrive in the second half of 2014.
