The LG Optimus 2X has dominated the headlines for the past couple of weeks and now the dual-core Android smartphone has had its release date officially confirmed, as falling at some point in January for UK customers.
LG made the announcement this week and also said that ringtones preloaded onto the device will be composed by the famous Ennio Morricone, a man who has written many movie themes.
In a press release LG explained that the whole of Europe will be getting the Optimus 2X in January, although it would not give any word on its official pricing, despite the fact that Swedish sources expect it to hit the market at around £470.
LG has been gradually expanding its Optimus range, with the original Optimus One amongst the best selling handsets it has ever launched. The LG Optimus 7, based on the Windows Phone 7 platform, has also arrived and now the Optimus 2X looks likely to follow soon after.
With the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, the Optimus 2X will blow away the competition and its four inch display will allow it to compete at the very top end of the market.
