The Karbonn Mobile A5S is one of the UK’s cheapest smartphones, launching in the UK this month for just a penny under £70. And in spite of this low asking price, it is still relatively well equipped, according to TechRadar.
The A5S comes with a four inch screen that has a 800×480 resolution, which is perfectly acceptable for a display of this size. It is powered by a dual core processor with a 1.2GHz clockspeed and has half a gigabyte of RAM onboard to boot.
Android 4.4 Kit Kat is preinstalled on the A5S and while it may not be 4G compatible, it does have all the other connectivity features you would expect, including 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
At this price point, a smartphone may well be seen as a bit more disposable than its more expensive rivals. And the hardware on offer aboard the A5S is equivalent to the kind of tech that the flagship models of 2011 were rocking, showing just how quickly the market moves.
There are many budget Android mobiles on offer at the moment, but the A5S’ inclusion of dual SIM card slots could put it ahead of its competitors.
