Samsung Galaxy S5 Active appears in leaked video

samsung-galaxy-s5-activeWhile last year the Galaxy S4 Active edition was an entirely necessary addition to Samsung’s smartphone range, a sequel in 2014 seems like it would be less vital. This is because now the bog standard Galaxy S5 offers a waterproof design, which is a niche previously filled by the Active model.

However, a new video posted to TK Tech News, has shown that there may well be a Galaxy S5 Active on the cards, boasting all of the high end features of its standard sibling, but with a design that is a little more rugged and robust.

The Galaxy S5 Active will have to be more than just waterproof to justify its existence, so it looks like Samsung is making it generally sturdier and better equipped, to withstand bumps, scrapes and extended periods of submersion.

You still get a quad core Snapdragon 801 processor on the inside, a 5.1 inch 1080p AMOLED display up front and a 16 megapixel camera on the rear, so choosing the Galaxy S5 Active will not be a compromise on a technical level. And people who do not mind the chunkier design will be happy to snap it up, if it does get released in the UK.
