O2 customers who want to get their hands on the brand new Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, will have to wait until some point after its April 1st UK launch, as the network provider has announced a delay to the release of this gaming-focused, Android smartphone.
O2 is citing software glitches as the main reason for the delay and spokesperson Stuart Hibberd revealed that extensive testing of the phone had unearthed bugs which might spoil the user experience, hence the need for the postponement of its release.
Mr Hibberd said that the Xperia Play would not make its original launch date, although he assured customers that O2 was partnering with Sony Ericsson to get to the bottom of the issues.
With a four inch display, gaming controls and six pre-installed games, the Xperia Play is going to set the benchmark for hardcore Android handsets to come and determine whether or not the PlayStation branding is enough to entice users over from traditional handhelds like the PSP or 3DS.
O2 has exclusive access to an all-white edition of the Xperia Play, so those who want this alternative colour scheme with identical specs will be waiting longest.
