A follow-up to the BlackBerry Torch has made its first appearance online and it is already being touted as a significant improvement over the original, which received lukewarm reviews from many outlets.
According to BGR, the Torch 2 will be a step in the right direction when it comes to hardware, with a 1.2GHz processor speeding things up and BlackBerry OS 6.1 ensuring that it is more competitive with Android and iOS devices.
The Torch 2 is likely to resemble its predecessor in most ways, complete with a slide-out QWERTY keypad. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the looks of the original Torch were hardly a major issue.
The display of the Torch 2 is thought to sport a higher resolution and a more responsive interface while RIM has also packed the handset with a new battery, which should help users squeeze a bit more fun out of the handset.
Next month the BlackBerry World conference is being held and so further details about the Torch 2 and a slew of other new RIM devices are sure to be made available, so fans of this range will not have long to wait.
